About Us

About the project:

The NAOMI project is a strategic Erasmus+ initiative that addresses the complex and urgent intersection of digital safety, mental health, and gender inclusion in the digital era. Focused on supporting marginalized young females aged 18 to 30, NAOMI equips its participants with the essential knowledge, tools, and critical thinking skills required to safely and confidently navigate the online world. Simultaneously, the project enhances the professional capacities of youth workers, enabling them to better assist this vulnerable demographic through tailored training and targeted resources.

NAOMI responds to a rapidly evolving digital landscape where young women—especially those from disadvantaged or underrepresented backgrounds—face increasing exposure to online harassment, cyberbullying, algorithmic bias, disinformation, and other harmful digital behaviors. These threats can severely affect mental well-being, self-image, and access to equal opportunities.

Through a robust and inclusive methodology, NAOMI fosters safer, healthier, and more equitable digital environments across Europe. The project promotes digital empowerment and resilience by emphasizing ethical engagement with technology and supporting mental wellness within online communities.

NAOMINavigating AI and Internet Safety for Young Females’ Mental Health—is designed to directly confront one of the defining challenges of our digital age: the psychological and safety-related consequences of online spaces on young women, with a particular emphasis on those from socially or economically marginalized backgrounds.

In today’s hyper-connected society, digital platforms present both opportunities and risks. While they offer unparalleled access to communication, education, and empowerment, they simultaneously expose users—especially young females—to dangerous phenomena such as cyber violence, data exploitation, and algorithmic manipulation. The impact of these digital stressors on mental health is profound and widespread, contributing to anxiety, low self-esteem, and social isolation.

Recognizing these challenges, NAOMI sets forth a comprehensive framework built upon non-formal education, participatory learning, and peer-based support. The project not only empowers young women to act confidently and responsibly online but also ensures that youth workers are equipped to guide and protect them effectively.

NAOMI is led by a consortium of experienced organizations from France, Greece, and Bulgaria, combining cross-sectoral expertise in youth development, digital literacy, social inclusion, and psychological support. Together, they will co-create and implement a series of impactful and interrelated activities, including:

  • AI-Driven Digital Well-Being Toolkit: A digital resource enabling users to monitor their online habits and enhance mental well-being through self-assessment and behavioral insights.

  • Interactive Workshops: Sessions exploring topics such as internet safety, data privacy, digital rights, and algorithmic awareness to foster critical digital literacy.

  • Training for Youth Professionals: Specialized modules to upskill youth workers in emerging AI technologies, ethical tech use, and psychosocial aspects of digital engagement.

  • Peer-Led Support Groups: Safe spaces for open discussion and emotional reinforcement aimed at building resilience in digital mental health contexts.

  • NAOMI Connect Days: Public-facing events hosted in each partner country to raise awareness, showcase results, and mobilize local communities in the promotion of safer digital ecosystems.

The NAOMI project aligns deeply with key European Union priorities, including:

  • Advancing the digital transition while upholding fundamental rights

  • Promoting gender equality and combating structural exclusion

  • Reinforcing the quality and inclusiveness of youth work

  • Encouraging transnational cooperation for sustainable, innovative solutions

  • Building a safer and more empowering digital experience for all European youth

By addressing the nexus of technology, gender, and well-being, NAOMI contributes meaningfully to the EU’s vision of a digitally inclusive, ethically grounded, and mentally healthy society.
